HC Deb 16 January 1940 vol 356 c16
26. Mr. David Adams

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether he will give consideration to a scheme whereby parents of school children will be required to agree to leaving their children in the evacuation areas once they are evacuated until they reach school-leaving age or until the resumption of peace-time education, in order to put evacuation upon a semi-permanent footing, in agreement with our expectation of a three-year war?

Mr. Grimston (Treasurer of the Household)

I have been asked to reply. The Government are actively engaged in reviewing their policy with regard to the evacuation of school children, in the light of the experience of the working of the present scheme. The hon. Member's suggestion is not free from difficulty, but it will certainly be borne in mind.

Mr. Adams

Owing to the unsatisfactory nature of the reply I beg to give notice that I will raise the matter on a subsequent date upon the Adjournment.
