HC Deb 27 February 1940 vol 357 c1885
44. Mr. T. Smith

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware of the large amount of materials and valuable refuse still being wasted in Army camps in this country, and what steps he is taking to deal with it?

Mr. Stanley

I am not aware that a large amount of materials and valuable refuse is being wasted in Army camps or barracks. Instructions regarding the prevention of waste have been issued, and there is daily evidence of active and continuous efforts to conserve and economise.
