§ Mr. StanleyI presume that my hon. Friend refers to the rates of motor mileage allowance paid to officers for the use of their private cars on official journeys. The rates admissible under regulations vary from 1½d. to 4d. a mile according to circumstances and the horse-power of the car used. The rates are general and are not varied according to the value of a particular car.
