HC Deb 20 February 1940 vol 357 c1136
44. Mr. Jennings

asked the Secretary of State for War how much per mile is paid for private motor cars loaned by commissioned officers in the Army to the Army; and whether the same rate per mile is paid in the case of a motor car worth £10 as in the case of a motor car worth £100?

Mr. Stanley

I presume that my hon. Friend refers to the rates of motor mileage allowance paid to officers for the use of their private cars on official journeys. The rates admissible under regulations vary from 1½d. to 4d. a mile according to circumstances and the horse-power of the car used. The rates are general and are not varied according to the value of a particular car.
