asked the Minister of Labour the number of wholly unemployed registered at Normanton, Castleford and Pontefract, at the latest date available, and the comparative figure in August, 1939?

As the reply includes a table of figures, I will, if I may, circulate a statement in the OFFICIAL REPORT.

Is the Minister satisfied with the progress made in absorbing the unemployed?

Mr. Brown

I am never satisfied.

The Table below shows the numbers of wholly unemployed persons aged 14 and over, on the registers of the Normanton, Castleford and Pontefract Employment Exchanges at 15th January, 1940, and 14th August, 1939.
