HC Deb 08 February 1940 vol 357 cc379-80
12. . Mr. T. Smith

asked the Minister of Labour the reason for the suspension of the activities of juvenile advisory committees, and how long the suspension is to last?

Mr. Brown

The suspension of the activities of these committees, except in cases when special business arises, was part of the emergency arrangements introduced at the outbreak of the war. I am at present considering how far these restrictions can be relaxed.

Mr. Smith

Will the right hon. Gentleman agree that these advisory committees do excellent work and that they should continue their activities?

Mr. Brown

Yes, it is my desire to get as near normality as I can.
