Mr. Emeryasked the Minister of Agriculture whether, in view of the fact that Cheviot and Black-faced breeds of sheep are the bases of the national sheep-stock and require no imported foodstuffs, he will initiate consideration of a policy of supplementing war-time food and wool supplies by placing an increased number of these breeds on drained idle pastures 966 and idle residential grasslands of Sussex and Hampshire; and will he begin to prepare, in those counties, heather areas for hill sheep?
