HC Deb 07 August 1940 vol 364 c205
51. Mr. A. Edwards

asked the Minister of Supply whether purchases of iron and steel by his Department are subject to control prices; and, where higher prices than control prices are being paid, will he state the reason?

Mr. H. Morrison

Although under the Control of Iron and Steel (No. 8) Order, 1940, transactions between the Minister of Supply and any other person are exempt from the statutory maximum prices laid down in the Order, I am not a ware of any case where more than a statutory maximum price has been paid by me.
