HC Deb 06 August 1940 vol 363 c39
64. Sir Ernest Bennett

asked the Home Secretary whether he can now state the result of the recent appeal by the hon. and gallant Member for Midlothian and Peebles (Captain Ramsay) against his detention?

Mr. Peake

I understand that the Advisory Committee will be submitting a report at an early date, and when it is received my right hon. Friend will consider it without delay.

Mr. Maxton

That does not answer the Question whether this House will have a report from the right hon. Gentleman.

Mr. Peake

That was not the Question on the Order Paper as I read it.

Mr. Stokes

Will the hon. Gentleman say what is meant by "an early date"? This has been going on for a long time.

Mr. Peake

We hope to receive the report of the Advisory Committee within the next two days, and my right hon. Friend will be in a position, I hope, to make a statement some time during next week.
