§ Captain CrookshankThe number of civil servants who have been registered as conscientious objectors by the appropriate tribunals, either unconditionally or conditionally on their remaining in their 37 present occupations, is 249. As I stated on 16th July in reply to my hon. and learned Friend the Member for North Edinburgh (Mr Erskine Hill), men in this position will for the war period be barred from consideration for promotion.
