HC Deb 30 April 1940 vol 360 c537
56. Mr. Roland Robinson

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what progress is being made in the payment of compensation to owners of hotels which have been requisitioned by the Government?

Captain Crookshank

Payments in settlement or on account of claims for compensation have been made in more than four-fifths of the cases in which particulars of claim have been furnished to the Departments concerned, and negotiations are proceeding for the settlement of outstanding items. I should add that there are a certain number of cases in which the owners or occupiers have not yet presented claims or have not presented claims sufficiently detailed to serve as a basis for payment of compensation.
