HC Deb 30 April 1940 vol 360 c543
67. Mr. R. Robinson

asked the Attorney-General whether the Government have now considered the report of the Committee on Civil Liabilities; and what action is to be taken in view of the continuing grave difficulties of those concerned?

The Solicitor-General (Sir Terence O'Connor)

The Government propose at an early date to introduce a Bill making certain amendments to the Courts (Emergency Powers) Act, which it is hoped will assist in dealing with this problem, and a Bill will also be introduced to bring the rating law in London into conformity with the law in the rest of England and Wales in the matter of remission of rates by rating authorities.
