§ 38. Mr. Sorensenasked the Secretary of State for War whether any steps have been taken respecting the formation of companies of the Pioneer Corps in association with particular boroughs; and what progress has been made respecting this possibility in the borough of Leyton?
§ Mr. StanleyThe question is under consideration. Some boroughs have been approached on the subject; others, including Leyton, will be approached in due course.
§ Mr. SorensenCan the right hon. Gentleman say when we are likely to hear about the raising of a Pioneer Corps in Leyton, seeing that numbers of men are anxious to join at an early date?
§ Mr. StanleyI am glad to hear that, and I will certainly bring it to the notice of my advisers. We are only too anxious to start a corps in any borough where the prospects are likely to be so good.
§ Mr. SorensenMay I point out that in fact communications have been sent to the Minister some time ago?
§ Mr. StanleyA number of Reserve officers have been used for this purpose and officers of the Emergency Reserve.
