HC Deb 30 April 1940 vol 360 c544
69. Mr. Parker

asked the Prime Minister what information he has as to the present situation in Sinkiang; whether the whole or part of the country is in Russian occupation; and what Government or Governments exercise authority there?

The Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (Mr. Butler)

Since 1937 there have been no major disturbances in Sinkiang, which is administered by the Provincial Government at Urumchi under the authority of the Chinese Government at Chungking.
