§ Colonel Grettonasked the Minister of Supply whether his attention has been called to improved methods of dealing with scrap aluminium by which it is possible to use safely and efficiently up to 20 per cent. mixed with new aluminium, and an estimated saving may be made of approximately £24,000,000 a year; and whether he is taking any action in this matter?
§ Mr. BurginI am aware of the developments in dealing with scrap aluminium and the question of the best use which can be made of aluminium scrap is receiving constant attention. The Aluminium Controller is constantly reviewing the use which can be made of scrap aluminium in the light of the changing condition of supply and demand, and has a special staff to assist him in regard thereto. I am not clear how my right hon. and gallant Friend obtains his estimate of saving, but if he has any information on the matter which he thinks would be of use I should be very glad if he would be good enough to communicate it to me.
