HC Deb 16 April 1940 vol 359 cc776-7
21. Lieut.-Colonel Heneage

asked the Secretary of State for War the nature of the control of the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry, and how far it has been affected by the Auxiliary Territorial Service?

Mr. Stanley

The First Aid Nursing Yeomanry or, as it is now called, the Women's Transport Service (F.A.N.Y.), is a private organisation, recognised by the War Office, but not under any official control. A number of its members have joined the Auxiliary Territorial Service.

Lieut.-Colonel Heneage

Is there any intention of altering the relations of this well-established corps with the Auxiliary Territorial Service, and have the members of that corps been consulted?

Mr. Stanley

After discussion, and with the agreement of the council of this body, certain rules have been laid down for the organisation of those members of this body who have joined the Auxiliary Territorial Service.
