HC Deb 16 April 1940 vol 359 cc781-2
30. Captain Strickland

asked the Secretary for Mines whether, in view of the very small quantity of petrol involved, he will now investigate the possibility of making such additional basic ration to motor-cycle combinations as will place them on equal mileage terms as those granted to solo machines?

The Secretary for Mines (Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd)

This matter has been very carefully considered, but I regret that I do not see my way to modifying the existing practice in the direction suggested.

Captain Strickland

Is my hon. Friend aware that the owner of a motor combination is not on equal terms with owners of other types of vehicles with regard to mileage?

Mr. Lloyd

As my hon. and gallant Friend will appreciate, it is difficult to secure absolute equality in these matters, considering the small amounts of petrol involved. I cannot suggest any improvement.
