HC Deb 16 April 1940 vol 359 c786
35. Mr. E. J. Williams

asked the Secretary for Mines the reason for the suspension of operations at the low-temperature plant at Wieratarw, Glamorgan?

Mr. Lloyd

The particular grade of coal which has been used in this plant is in great demand for steel works and other urgent requirements locally. The output of the supplying colliery is not, at present, sufficient to meet the needs of these consumers and to keep the coalite plant in operation.
