Mr. Bellenger

I would ask the Prime Minister whether the practice of informing the House on Thursdays of the business for the forthcoming week will be continued, as in the past?

The Prime Minister

I beg to move, "That this House, at its rising this day, do adjourn till Tuesday next. I take this opportunity of stating what will be the business for next week.

Tuesday: Immediately after Questions, I shall make a statement on the genera] situation on a Motion for the Adjournment of the House.

Wednesday: The Chancellor of the Exchequer will open his War Budget.

Thursday: There will be a general Debate on the Budget Resolutions.

Friday: We shall take the Report stage of the Budget Resolutions and First Reading of the Finance (No. 2) Bill.

Mr. Macquisten

Would it not be much better to allow private Members to put more supplementary questions than to put on the Paper a score of questions, with which it is much more difficult to deal?

Mr. Speaker

I must leave it to the common sense of hon. Members.

Question put, and agreed to.

Resolved, That this House at its rising this day do adjourn till Tuesday next.
