Mr. M. MacDonaldI am glad to say that we have received assurances of support from both the Jewish and the Arab 534 sections of the population. With regard to the first part of the question, I cannot give a general undertaking. Each case must be considered on its merits, and these cases are under review. On the 26th August, the last date for which I have figures, there were 1,700 Arabs and 175 Jews detained under the Emergency Regulations.
