§ 50. Mr. A. Edwardsasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether he will arrange with the Service Departments to use existing garages which have not machines suitable for producing munitions, for the upkeep and repair of lorries and other vehicles instead of organising independent workshops?
§ The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster (Mr. W. S. Morrison)Close touch is being maintained on this matter with representative bodies of the motor industry. Existing commercial garages are utilised when necessary for the repair of service vehicles where service workshops are not available, and where the repair work needed is not beyond the capacity of the ordinary garage, and arrangements are being made for the repair of vehicles through the motor manufacturers' service depot organisation.
