§ 67. Mr. Footasked the Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been drawn to the regulation in the Army and in the Auxiliary Territorial Service that no other rank may enter a public place in uniform in the company of an officer and to the regulation that other ranks must at all times wear uniform; whether he is aware of the difficulty which consequently arises when an officer wishes to appear in public with a member of the Auxiliary Territorial Service not holding commissioned rank; and whether he will consider the advisability of modifying these regulations?
§ Mr. Hore-BelishaInstructions have been issued making it clear that there is no objection to officers and other ranks of the Army and of the Auxiliary Territorial Service appearing together in public on suitable occasions when not: on duty, reliance being placed on them to exercise a proper judgment in such matters.
