HC Deb 17 October 1939 vol 352 c652
16. Mr. Price

asked the Secretary for Mines whether he is aware that members and officials of rural district councils are experiencing difficulty in securing petrol supplies to carry out their duties; and whether he will arrange that they obtain supplies in the same way as those working on Civil Defence or other public work?

Mr. Lloyd

Members and officials of local authorities are required to obtain their supplementary allowances of petrol from the divisional petroleum officers, and I am not aware that difficulties are being experienced in obtaining what is necessary for essential needs. Special arrangements have been made for supplies of petrol for A.R.P. work but I do not consider it desirable that these supplies should be used for other purposes.
