§ 59. Mr. Ammonasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether the exemption from rating of buildings used by Territorials is now set aside and such buildings fall into the same category as those in the use of the Regular Army for which ex-gratia contributions are made to local rates?
§ Captain CrookshankThe exemption from rating of property, in the occupation of Territorial Associations prior to the war, is being maintained as was the case in the last war. On the other hand, where local authorities have lost rates owing to the requisitioning of rateable property for the present emergency the Government are prepared to give consideration to cases as they arise.
§ Mr. AmmonDoes that mean that buildings hitherto occupied by Territorials will, now that the Territorials have been embodied, be in the same category as those used by the Regular Army?
§ Captain CrookshankPerhaps the hon. Member will read the reply. I think it is quite clear.
