asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether he will make a statement respecting the operation of the Education Act, 1936, the number of exemptions already granted and the number of applications for exemptions?

Mr. Lindsay

As the hon. Member will now be aware, the Government have introduced a Bill for the postponement of the operation of Sections 1 to 6 of the Education Act, 1936, which make provision for the raising of the school-leaving age. I have no information as to the number of exemptions granted or of applications for exemption made under the Act.
