HC Deb 04 October 1939 vol 351 cc1923-4
3. Mr. A. Henderson

asked the Prime Minister whether any assurance has been given by the German Government to His Majesty's Government that they would abide by the Geneva Protocol of 1925 prohibiting the use of gas and bacteriological methods of war?

Mr. Butler

Yes, Sir. The German Government have given an assurance to this effect through the Swiss Minister in London, on the understanding that His Majesty's Government will also observe the Protocol.

Mr. Henderson

Have the Government any evidence to show whether the German Government used gas bombs during their invasion of Poland?

Mr. Butler

I would prefer to have notice of that question.
