HC Deb 03 October 1939 vol 351 c1795
13. Mr. Ede

asked the Secretary of State for War what particular action he has taken during the past three months to ensure that no unduly high standard of expense is set for regimental officers?

The Financial Secretary to the War Office (Sir Victor Warrender)

War conditions are now prevailing and there is no reason to believe that any unduly high standard of living is being maintained.

Mr. Ede

Will the hon. Baronet make sure that throughout the Service reasonable standards are set and maintained?

Sir V. Warrender

We are doing that. We have had no complaints to the contrary.
