§ Mr. ColvilleBilleting allowances are payable to householders only in respect of persons of the priority classes who have been transferred and billeted under the Government evacuation scheme. I regret that it would not be practicable to extend the payment of billeting allowances to cover persons who have removed from evacuating areas under private arrangement.
§ Mr. MathersDoes not the right hon. Gentleman realise the advantage that it is for some of these people to be billeted where they are rather than where they might have been put under the official scheme, and in cases where hardship is involved will he not look at the matter again?
§ Mr. ColvilleI am afraid that it is not really practicable to extend the Government's scheme. I have looked into it further.
