HC Deb 03 October 1939 vol 351 cc1819-20
76. Sir Stanley Reed

asked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs what salary and allowances attach to the office of the United Kingdom representative to Eire?

Mr. Eden

The salary attached to the post of United Kingdom Representative to Eire is £2,500 a year, which is the same as that of the United Kingdom High Commissioners in Canada, the Commonwealth of Australia, New Zealand and the Union of South Africa. The allowances attached to the post have not yet been finally settled.

Sir S. Reed

May I ask my right hon. Friend whether that is in addition to any pension which may be drawn by the occupant of the post or any directors fees which may be drawn by the occupant of the post?

Mr. Eden

I should like to have notice of that question, but Sir John Maffey has done considerable public service.
