HC Deb 02 October 1939 vol 351 c1657
8. Mr. T. Smith (for Mr. John Morgan)

asked the Minister of Agriculture what acreage is occupied by golf links; and whether he will take or authorise any powers necessary to secure access to this acreage for sheep grazing at such times as will not inconvenience the reasonable use of the links?

Sir R. Dorman-Smith

My Department is not in possession of information as to the acreage occupied by golf links, but I am bringing to the notice of County War Agricultural Committees in England and Wales the desirability of arranging, in suitable cases, for golf clubs to provide for sheep grazing on the lines indicated by the hon. Member.

Mr. Macquisten

Is not my right hon. and gallant Friend aware that all golfers prefer sheep to graze on golf links? They improve the fairway.
