§ 46. Mr. Henderson Stewartasked the Prime Minister whether, in order more frequently and directly to inform the people of the course of the war, and the part played by Parliament in the war effort, and in order to answer more effectively the lying propaganda of the enemy, he will consider taking steps, through an all-party co-operation, to organise a series of public meetings throughout the country during the coming months to be addressed by members of the War Cabinet, other Ministers, and Leaders of the Labour and Liberal Opposition?
§ The Prime MinisterI have already made proposals to this effect to the Leaders of the Opposition parties, but although the Liberal Opposition readily agreed to co-operate, I have been informed by the Leader of the Labour Opposition that his party preferred at present to carry on their war propaganda independently. In these circumstances it is not possible to pursue the suggestion of my hon. Friend in the form he has in mind.
Mr. StewartWill the Prime Minister consider organising meetings to be addressed by Government supporters and Opposition Liberals at the earliest possible moment?
§ The Prime MinisterThe matter is under consideration.
