HC Deb 22 November 1939 vol 353 cc1211-2
43. Mr. J. Henderson

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware of the hardship and inconvenience caused through lack of transport to a large number of citizens in Manchester and Salford, who are compelled to wait in queues in the streets for long periods; and what action he proposes to take to provide adequate transport facilities?

Captain Wallace

I am aware that there have been complaints of inconvenience caused by lack of transport in the areas to which the hon. Member refers. My officers have been in consultation with the local road transport undertakers on this subject and everything possible is being done to provide adequate facilities withhin the restrictions necessarily imposed by the rationing of fuel. If, however, the hon. Member has in mind any specific case of difficulty and will send me the necessary particulars, I will certainly have further investigation made.
