HC Deb 16 November 1939 vol 353 c808
34. Mr. R. C. Morrison

asked the Home Secretary whether he is aware that shopkeepers are being asked to purchase illuminated signs of various types for indicating that their premises are open; and, in view of the uncertainty whether the use of such signs is permissible under the regulations, will he arrange for some authority, either central or local, to which illuminated shop signs can be submitted for approval?

Sir J. Anderson

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer which I gave to a question by my hon. Friend the Member for Lewisham, West (Mr. Brooke) on 7th November. I hope shortly to be in a position to announce the conditions under which such an illuminated sign may be used.
