HC Deb 16 November 1939 vol 353 cc800-1
15. Mr. Dobbie

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will inform the House as to the name of the disbanded pro-German organisation formerly operating in this country whose name is associated with the distribution by German agents in neutral countries of leaflets relative to the alleged supply of gas shells to Poland by the British Government; and will he inform the House whether there is any link between the organisation in neutral countries and prominent citizens in this country?

The Secretary of State for the Home Department (Sir John Anderson)

My information is that the leaflets referred to are of German origin and have been distributed from neutral countries. There appears to be no evidence that the circulation of these particular leaflets is in any way connected with any person or organisation in this country.

Sir Henry Morris-Jones

Is my right hon. Friend keeping in constant touch with such organisations in this country and keeping a watch on them, as the leaflets undoubtedly show a trend of a pacifist character?

Sir J. Anderson

That is a separate question. As I said before, my Department is keeping a close watch on all activities of that kind.

Mr. Rhys Davies

Will the right hon. Gentleman keep his eyes on the leaders of the Liberal party in North Wales?
