HC Deb 14 November 1939 vol 353 c505
4. Mr. Windsor

asked the Minister of Shipping what steps he proposes to take to ensure that the supply of personnel to British ships shall be carried out in the best interests of the nation and of maritime workers?

Sir J. Gilmour

I am glad to say that there exist at the ports efficient arrangements for the supply of seamen known as the joint supply system organised by the National Union of Seamen and the Shipping Federation.
