HC Deb 14 November 1939 vol 353 c503
1. Mr. Shinwell

asked the Minister of Shipping whether he proposes to give periodical reports of the work of his Department, not excluding statements on the operations of the Advisory Council recently appointed?

The Minister of Shipping (Sir John Gilmour)

I hope it will be possible from time to time to inform the House of the progress of the work of the Department.

Mr. Kirkwood

I should like to ask the Minister whether he has anything to do with the giving of orders for the building of new tramp ships by the Government?

Sir J. Gilmour

Yes, Sir; but that raises another question.
