HC Deb 02 November 1939 vol 352 cc2087-8
61. Mr. Ede

asked the Minister of Health how many applications he has received from reception areas for extensions and improvements to the water supply; in how many cases he has given consent; and the estimated cost of the total number of applications and of those to which he has consented?

The Minister of Health (Mr. Elliot)

Eighteen such applications have been made since the evacuation, of a total estimated cost of £15,683. Consent has been given to three proposals estimated to cost £1,780 and the remaining applications are under consideration.

Mr. Ede

In view of the urgency of this matter in these areas will the right hon. Gentleman do his utmost to expedite decisions in the cases that are outstanding?

Mr. Elliot

Yes, Sir. I think we are awaiting details on the various cases, or most of them.

Mr. De La Bére

Will my right hon. Friend specially bear in mind the case of Evesham, which is frightfully urgent as there is no water supply available?

Mr. Elliot

That is another matter.
