HC Deb 02 November 1939 vol 352 c2104
70. Mr. Groves

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware of the issue of a form, S4/7, by the London Insurance Committee refusing to permit the transfer of doctors chosen by insured persons; whether this is authorised under the Medical Benefit Regulations of his Department; if so, which; and, if not, whether he will immediately give instructions for the withdrawal of the form?

Mr. Elliot

I have made inquiries and I find that this form is issued to an insured person who wishes to transfer immediately from the list of a doctor on war service to the list of some other doctor. The object of the notice is to inform the insured person how he can obtain an immediate transfer. In view of the desirability of safeguarding the interests of persons who have undertaken war service I do not see any sufficient reason for interfering with the action of the insurance committee.

Mr. Groves

Is not the right hon. Gentleman under some misapprehension, as the circular definitely refuses such permission?

Mr. Elliot

I do not think there is any misapprehension, but I should be willing to discuss the matter with the hon. Member.
