HC Deb 01 November 1939 vol 352 c1909
17. Mr. J. J. Davidson

asked the Secretary of State for Air when he last visited Scottish air defences; and whether he in tends to re-visit those defences in the near future?

Sir K. Wood

I visited certain Royal Air Force units in Scotland in February last and have every intention of making further visits, although I am unable to say at present when this will be possible.

Mr. Davidson

Is the Minister aware that the air defences of Scotland have been shifted almost weekly and that he would find great difficulty in visiting them unless he went to one place, and will he take steps to see to it that other districts are adequately protected?

Sir K. Wood

No, Sir. I do not agree with that at all and recent events have shown how well defended Scotland is.
