§ 20. Mr. Brooke
asked the Minister of Labour whether he will arrange to admit 2471 volunteers under 20 or over 21 years of age to training courses of a civil character for work of national importance on terms similar to those proposed for men who enter such a course in lieu of compulsory military training?
§ Mr. E. Brown
The various training schemes of the Ministry are already available, subject to certain conditions, to unemployed persons of this age. I am not aware of any ground for extending these facilities as suggested.
§ Mr. Brooke
May I take it that the Minister will not close the door to any further development of his own policy of voluntary training schemes?
