asked the Minister of Labour whether he is now in a position to announce the Government's proposals for assisting those distressed areas not covered by the existing Special Areas Acts?

Mr. E. Brown

I regret that I am not yet in a position to make an announcement.

Mr. Griffiths

In view of the fact that there has been a delay of many months, and that the session is rapidly drawing to a close, may we have an assurance that legislation will be brought forward this Session?

Mr. Brown

That assurance has been given more than once.

Mr. Griffiths

Will the right hon. Gentleman repeat it now?
