HC Deb 22 May 1939 vol 347 c1900
19. Mr. Day

asked the Minister of Agriculture the average monthly wholesale price of longsides of English and Scotch beef at London for the months of March, 1938, and March, 1939, respectively?

The Minister of Agriculture (Colonel Sir Reginald Dorman-Smith)

The average wholesale prices of longsides of English beef at London during the months of March, 1938, and March, 1939, were 7⅝d. per 1b. and 6⅞d. per 1b. respectively. The corresponding prices for Scotch longsides were 8¼d. per 1b. and 7⅝d. per 1b.

Mr. Day

Does the price to the consumer bear reference to the same price as the quota?

Sir R. Dorman-Smith

That is another question.
