HC Deb 08 May 1939 vol 347 cc19-20
35. Mr. Tinker

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he has considered a resolution carried by the Atherton and Leigh Poultry Society asking that steps should be taken to examine the position of the importation of foreign eggs; and how he proposes to deal with this matter?

Sir R. Dorman-Smith

I have received a copy of the resolution mentioned by the hon. Member and I would refer him to the provisions of Clause 17 of the Poultry Industry Bill in which power is sought to regulate imports of eggs and poultry in certain circumstances.

Mr. Tinker

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that there is grave uneasiness, and will he be prepared to meet a deputation so that they can put their point of view?

Sir R. Dorman-Smith

I am very well aware of the uneasiness and I should be pleased to consider seeing a deputation.
