HC Deb 02 May 1939 vol 346 cc1689-90
45. Mr. Mander

asked the Prime Minister whether he will consider the advisability of consulting the Leaders of the Opposition and representatives of other sections of opinion in the House, with a view to studying the conditions under which national unity might be obtained in defence matters, as well as in foreign policy?

The Prime Minister (Mr. Chamberlain)

I would refer the hon. Member to the answers which I gave to him on 18th November, 1937, and 16th March, 1938, to which I have nothing to add.

Mr. Mander

Does not the Prime Minister appreciate that by broadening the basis of his Government he might enormously add to our national effort in these times?
