§ The Paymaster-General (Earl Winterton)Sir Frank Smith, having passed the normal age for retirement, vacated his office as Secretary to the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research on 31st January last. He has since taken up, with the consent of His Majesty's 1507 Government, an appointment with the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company. The chairman of the company has offered to allow Sir Frank Smith to serve on any committees in the public interest.
