Rates of pay are the same in peace and war, and the allowances in issue are appropriate to the circumstances in Palestine and would not necessarily be varied, either as to rates or conditions of issue, if the troops were placed on other than a peace footing. Compensation has been allowed in respect of abnormal wear and tear of clothing.
