HC Deb 22 March 1939 vol 345 cc1279-80
42. Mr. Kirby

asked the Minister of Transport how many streets in the city of Liverpool have been scheduled as children's playgrounds to date and what number have been so scheduled since the passing of the Street Playgrounds Act, 1938?

Captain Hudson

I am informed that no applications have been received from Liverpool for confirmation of orders to enable roads to be used as playgrounds under the Street Playgrounds Act, 1938.

Mr. Kirby

Can the hon. and gallant Gentleman give any reason why there is no application in respect of Liverpool?

Captain Hudson

The initiative with regard to making such orders rests on the council.
