HC Deb 14 March 1939 vol 345 c218
67. Sir Arnold Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for War whether any regulations are in existence prohibiting the enlistment in India, for service in the British Army, of Anglo-Indians of good physique and character; and whether he will consider the desirability of encouraging such enlistments, having regard to the creditable military records of such men during the Great War?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

The answer to the first part of the question is that the regulations at present in force do have the effect suggested, although an Anglo-Indian section of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps has been formed in India, and other expansions are under consideration. The answer to the second part is that I will certainly consider the proposal.
