HC Deb 09 March 1939 vol 344 cc2331-2
45. Mr. Burke

asked the Prime Minister whether he can provide Parliamentary time for a discussion of the present situation in the cotton industry?

The Prime Minister (Mr. Chamberlain)

My right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade proposes to present the Cotton Industry (Reorganisation) Bill next week. The Debate on that Bill will give an opportunity for a discussion of the cotton industry.

Mr. Burke

As the Bill will necessitate orders being laid on the Table for 28 days, will the Prime Minister provide special facilities for getting the Bill through as early as possible?

The Prime Minister

We will see when the Bill is introduced.

Mr. Dodd

Will the wording of the Bill be exactly the same as that circulated to the trade?

The Prime Minister

I cannot say.
