HC Deb 08 March 1939 vol 344 cc2123-4
28. Mr. Parker

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty the number of warrant officers to be promoted to lieutenant under the new special promotion scheme; the branches in which the scheme is to be adopted; age limits for selection; duties on which officers are to be employed; and whether further promotions will be made after the first selections?

Mr. Shakespeare

The numbers of warrant officers who will be promoted direct to lieutenant must depend upon the numbers of suitable officers who are recommended; the scheme will include all types of executive warrant officers; the age limits will be 25 to 36; the officers promoted will be employed in the Fleet on the normal duties of a lieutenant; further promotions will be made after the first selections.
