HC Deb 08 March 1939 vol 344 cc2136-7
52. Mr. Mander

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is now able to make a statement with reference to the Palestine Conference?

Mr. M. MacDonald

No, Sir. I am not yet in a position to add anything to the statements which I made to the House on 27th February.

Mr. Mander

Is the right hon. Gentleman able to give an assurance that the British Mandate remains the basis of the Conference, and that there will be no repudiation of the Balfour Declaration.

Mr. MacDonald

His Majesty's Government are still bound by the Mandate. Beyond that, as I said, I cannot make any statement at present.

Mr. Mander

There will be no repudiation of the Balfour Declaration?
